Spincraft Pattern Newsletter #24 Change is Good (new site)

Second (new) version....

Hello to new subscribers, and old. I haven't sent out a newsletter in awhile, and today you are going to get two!

Sorry about that, and let me explain.

The newsletter service I was using bumped up my rate because I have accumulated a certain number of subscribers. And it has put it significantly past my spending limit. So I am moving over to an in-site service using the Open Source software that I use to run my Spincraft Patterns site (Drupal).

So ... this one is the new format from the new system. I have transfered all your names over to SpincraftPatterns.com, and will be sending the weekly newsletter using this software now.

My hope in doing these two emails today is to confuse you a bit less. I know everyone receives so much stuff in their email, and I am grateful to anyone who has the time to read my newsletter. I'm hoping you'll be able to see the "Old Familiar" and the "New" on the same day and realize they are really the same thing.

My other big hope is to not get caught in spam blockers everywhere, or for anyone to think I am spamming them. The new newsletter will be coming from newsletter@spincraftpatterns.com. If your email receives this newsletter it is because you subscribed (as always, unsubscribe links are at the bottom and actually work.)

So on with a bit of knitting...

Lace Reversible Cable
-------------------------------------

This is beautiful! Part of it is the lovely blue yarn being used for the scarf, but mostly it is this amazing reversible cable stitch. I love how it hangs so nice and straight!

Decrease on Circular Needles
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Decreasing isn't terribly difficult, but getting it to look the way you want can be tricky.

One thing to keep in mind when decreasing is that the various methods create different looks. Things like, knitting two together, knitting and slipping, or purling two together, will give a "decrease seam" with a different look. The usual advice is to follow the pattern, but it's also nice to know how they all work so you can design your own pieces, or fix something when it is going wrong.

How to Raise Sheep
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Want to go completely from scratch? Here is a handy book from Amazon to give you an idea how to start. My personal advice, however, is to make sure you have local mentors if you are thinking of raising sheep. There is nothing like hands on experience to give you the help when you need it!

Enough for today
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

And that's today's short newsletter. Short for me because I still have a lot to do to get the new program to work. And short for you because you are getting it double anyway.

Thank you for your patience during the transition. You know... change is good!

Happy Knitting!

Sincerely,
Connie Delaney
